Dual-port Strategy Shortens US East Coast Lead Time

Weekly sailings from Ningbo and Cat Lai now synchronize with Savannah and Norfolk arrivals, trimming average door-to-door time by nine days.

More predictable capacity for retailers. Allocating volume between two Asian load ports protects capacity during congestion spikes and gives planners more frequent departure windows.

Shanyue has contracted weekly blocks on two services covering Ningbo–Savannah and Cat Lai–Norfolk. The schedules are staggered so outbound capacity is available every four days, and both routes connect into the same inland networks covering New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and the Carolinas.

We partnered with a digital freight forwarder to push live sailing ETAs into our customer portal. Production planners can match packing lists to the closest departure and lock container space without emailing multiple agents.

The Cat Lai origin also supports yarns produced in Vietnam, keeping certificates of origin aligned for customers leveraging US duty programs. Safety stock levels have been reduced by 12 percent among pilot accounts thanks to the tighter transit control.

Customers looking to onboard can request a lead-time simulation that compares historical delivery data with the new plan, helping merchandising teams recalibrate drop calendars.
